- The happenings that took place at this time was the fulfillment of the prophecy that was given by Isaiah in the Old Testament.
- When it comes to scripture (particularly prophecy) there is a near fulfillment and a far (distant) fulfillment.
- Emmanuel = God with us.
- How is God with us? Why is God with us?
- God is with us to comfort.
- Joshua 1:5,9
- God is with us past, present, and future.
- He was with Israel when He worked through Moses; now that Moses is gone, He is still with them. He will not leave them or forsake them in the future.
- Command = give an authoritative order.
- Dismayed = to break down the courage of completely as by sudden danger or trouble; dishearten thoroughly.
- Not to crack under pressure.
- You can rest in the fact that God is with you wherever you go.
- He strengthens our resolves, encourages our hearts, and calms our fears.
- To comfort and protect us … (Psalm 23:4 … rod and staff).
- God is with us to the end.

- This is Matthew’s account of the Great Commission.
- The comforting thing was that Jesus told them He would be with them until the end of the age.
- There is never a time God is not with you; you have the very one with you that can solve all your problems.
- He is with us in the day of judgement.
- He came to us, why not come to Him. Give Him your life.
