Bishop Timothy Leon Dortch, a native of Goldsboro, NC, is the fourth child born to the late Charles Alphonza Dortch, Sr., and Beatrice Silver Dortch, and a 1987 graduate of Goldsboro High School.
He attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Greensboro, NC for one year immediately after graduating from high school, and returned to Goldsboro, where he attended Wayne Community College for two years. He is a 2008 graduate of Mount Olive College, Mount Olive, North Carolina, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Religion, and a 2011 honors graduate (Cum Laude) of Capella University, Minneapolis, Minnesota with a Master of Science degree in Human Services with a specialization in Counseling Studies.
Bishop Dortch preached his initial sermon in May of 1989 and was licensed a minister by the First African Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Isaac B. Horton, II. He was ordained in 1990 by the Bear Creek Missionary Baptist Association.
He has served as the Pastor of Word of Truth Christian Fellowship (formerly Eastern Chapel Missionary Baptist Church) since November 1990. He is the overseer of several churches, and therefore has finally embraced the office of Bishop; something that he has been walking in for well over 20 years. He was officially consecrated to the office of Bishop on Sunday, June 30, 2024.
Bishop Dortch is happily married to the former Terri Jones, is the proud father of three lovely children: Briana Shanae, Kayleon Elizabeth, and Timothy Elijah, and the proud grandfather of four grandchildren.
Most importantly, he is a born again, Spirit-filled believer who loves the Lord and enjoys preaching and teaching the Word of God to all who will receive.
