Meet Our Leadership & Staff

Bishop Timothy L. Dortch

Senoir Pastor

Bishop Timothy Leon Dortch, a native of Goldsboro, NC, is the fourth child born to the late Charles Alphonza Dortch, Sr., and Beatrice Silver Dortch, and a 1987 graduate of Goldsboro High School.

He attended North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Greensboro, NC for one year immediately after graduating from high school, and returned to Goldsboro, where he attended Wayne Community College for two years.  He is a 2008 graduate of Mount Olive College, Mount Olive, North Carolina, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Religion, and a 2011 honors graduate (Cum Laude) of Capella University, Minneapolis, Minnesota with a Master of Science degree in Human Services with a specialization in Counseling Studies.

Bishop Dortch preached his initial sermon in May of 1989 and was licensed a minister by the First African Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Isaac B. Horton, II.  He was ordained in 1990 by the Bear Creek Missionary Baptist Association.

He has served as the Pastor of Word of Truth Christian Fellowship (formerly Eastern Chapel Missionary Baptist Church) since November 1990. He is the overseer of several churches, and therefore has finally embraced the office of Bishop; something that he has been walking in for well over 20 years.

Bishop Dortch is happily married to the former Terri Jones, is the proud father of three lovely children: Briana Shanae, Kayleon Elizabeth, and Timothy Elijah, and the proud grandfather of four grandchildren.

Most importantly, he is a born again, Spirit-filled believer who loves the Lord and enjoys preaching and teaching the Word of God to all who will receive.

Terri Jones Dortch, a native of Goldsboro, NC, is the firstborn child of the late Terry L. and Tenia P. Jones.  She is a 1988 graduate of the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in Durham, NC.  She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Administration in Criminal Justice from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master of Christian Education degree from Apex School of Theology, a Master of Education in Post-Secondary and Adult Education degree from Capella University, and a Master of Science in Instructional Technology and a Graduate Certificate in Computer-Based Instruction from East Carolina University.  She has worked as a math tutor and instructional assistant for Wayne County Public Schools, but is more honored to have managed the home for several years for her husband and three children. She now assists her husband in ministry at Word of Truth.

In the community, Terri serves as chaplain of the Goldsboro Branch of the National Association of University Women, an organization which focuses on educating youth, community service, and giving scholarships to youth entering higher education.

Terri loves God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, whom she accepted as Lord and Savior at the age of fifteen.  She absolutely loves spending time with her wonderful husband and family.  She loves to “hit the road” to visit people and sightsee, and enjoys reading, puzzles, saltwater fishing, and all kinds of sports and games.

Her purpose statement in life is to educate and organize, pursuing excellence in herself and others.  Yet, spiritually, God has gifted Terri to be a prophetic intercessor and watchman, and a 2 Timothy 2:15 teacher.  She treasures studying the Word of God and helping others rightly divide it and apply it to their lives.  She has enjoyed teaching in Sunday School and Bible studies for all ages over the years, and has embraced the calling to go about doing good in the name of Jesus the Christ as God goes with her (Acts 10:38).
